The Princess Theatre, located at 57 Brisbane St, Launceston, is a proscenium arch theatre built-in 1911. In 2016, the City of Launceston refurbished the interior with new flooring and plush seating, with 947 seats on two levels (stalls & dress circle). The Princess has staged a wide range of large-scale performances.
The Earl Arts Centre, located at 10 Earl Street, Launceston, directly behind the Princess Theatre, is an intimate, black box theatre, built through the combined efforts of the Launceston community, Local, State and Commonwealth Governments and opened in 1993. With 184 seats, it is suitable for a range of smaller productions.
Theatre North Inc, trading as Theatre North at the Princess is an independent, non-profit organisation, established in 1995, and funded by the State Government and the City of Launceston.
