Plenty to see and do. Beautiful surrounds - lots of lovely walks. Plenty of bird life. Emerald village is quaint, great cafes and you can't go past Emerald Village Bakery for all kinds of delights!

The greater Mt Dandenong area, including Emerald, Monbulk, Olinda, Sassafras, Belgrave etc is an excellent, peaceful part of Victoria, just an hour's drive from Melbourne. The boutique shops offer a wide variety of goods to buy, from clothes to teas (in Sassafras), artwork, nic-nacs and beyond. Food on offer is excellent and suits pretty much all dietary requirements. A place to stay, really enjoy and explore.

We were there to celebrate our 32 year old autistic son birthday and it was such a delightful moment for him. The provision of books, toys and games made the stay for families with young children a whole lot easier. The whole vibe of the cottage was great! Everything is excellent. The view from the rooms were stunning. The peacefulness around the whole compound was a moment to remember for us.

The rooms (stayed in 2 different ones) are not very big and the bathrooms and kitchens were a little crowded. The bed was comfortable and the decor quirky but we liked it. It is a beautiful setting and has good outdoor niches to sit in. The town is relatively close but beware trying to go anywhere, especially at night, depending on taxis or Uber. They do not service most of the Ranges.

It was beautiful, and quite. We didn't find the heater a problem, if any thing it worked too good and we just closed some vents. The property was gorgeous. Didn't hear our neighbours at all. Our only issue was not hot water after 8ish each night, but could work around that.

Close to everything in the Dandenongs. Make sure you visit the bakery opposite the post office. Artisan breads, cakes, pastries, pies etc plus a HUGE variety of fresh, ‘home cooked’ meals to reheat. We bought some delightful food which was packed onto a huge cardboard tray to avoid squashing anything. There’s a big IGA one end of town and a Woolworths down the other end. Even of a weekend and school holidays, parking was never a problem for our group.
